Military-funded research looks for the secret to GPS-free navigation in a bird’s eye

Was pleased when the article finally explained the research process and that it was not at the cost of the lives of Robins. Birds are so fragile and vulnerable, even though they are the descendants of dinosaurs! Very interesting research. Maybe part of our so-call "junk DNA" is able to get Cryptochrome to work like GPS when there is a need . . . like how we are all capable of making epigenetic changes in ourselves for the better, as needed.
