SSgt (Join to see) An army fights on its stomach. North Korea has had issues with feeding its people. IF they get into a prolonged war, they will need to divert much in the way of their resources to that effort. They would leave their people starving. It would open a new opportunity for us to use food as a psychological weapon against their regime. Dropping food bundles to the people of North Korea while dropping bombs on the military will erode any morale they have at the onset of a war. The outcome remains unchanged.

First of all, we don't need to defeat North Korea. They have no capacity (as yet) to send their armies to our shores and their missiles and nuclear devices are not yet proven in practical tests. The singular goal now is to prevent them from attaining those capabilities. If China and/or Russia choose to protect North Korea under their defense umbrellas, they must be made to understand that they will suffer the consequences of any North Korean aggression against US or its allies. Finally, if we hesitate because of "the inherent predictability of war" we are surrendering to the same temerity that led to Hitler's rise. Yes, war is unpredictable, but that is no excuse for failing to defend yourself.

The complicating factor is the proximity of South Korea and Japan, and our forces in those countries. If it was just a matter of protecting the United States, it would be a lot easier.

Cpl Mark A. Morris Don't forget the tasking a satellite with making sure that they had continuous access to the internet regardless of what the regime does.
