It's a totally different mindset. Police are to serve and protect, military are to kill and destroy.

Military veterans do transition well in a police force, and police forces need combat tested practitioners with the deadly shoot outs some crooks cause. The drug trade seems to always pack automatic rifles while the police fight back with pistols while seeking cover & concealment. I do not know how the police forces of this country find people to go up against such violent thugs, and then civilians cry out against the militarization of police forces yet the crooks started it. What do you think police will do when they regularly encounter lawless criminals with full automatic weapons? Sell them girl scout cookies?

LTC Ivan Raiklin, Esq. There would need to be some serious adjustments in the mindset of the veteran becoming a Police officer. However, I believe they would be great.
