Walter Williams is awesome. Such clear writing and then that is where this will end. This is not a logical topic (to the left). The Left will not debate ideas because they loose every time. What they will do is prop up a new system. The Left today and SJW speak of fairness and a living wage. For some reason it is fair to confiscate wealth from productive individuals and hand it over to "the less fortunate, those whom did not win life's lottery", ect. The Left have waged the bets on the ideology of feelings over logic and reasoning.

I always thought minimum wage was for mostly entry level jobs that high school and college kids took anyway. If I am a 40 year old flipping burgers at Micky D's for 15 years I need to look in the mirror and tell myself I need a new plan. Besides I live in a very low cost of living area and Mcdonalds usually starts out at close to $10, they were advertising the other day for jobs.

All of the research I have seen supports the notion that a large majority of minimal wage earners are not 'breadwinners', aka they are the young, inexperienced.

SGT Kevin Berman - According to Pew Research, 50.4% are 24 or younger. That means the rest are older. Surprised me.

Highlights
The following are highlights from the 2015 data:
Age. Minimum wage workers tend to be young. Although workers under age 25 represented only about one-fifth of hourly paid workers, they made up about half of those paid the federal minimum wage or less. Among employed teenagers (ages 16 to 19) paid by the hour, about 11 percent earned the minimum wage or less, compared with about 2 percent of workers age 25 and older. (See tables 1 and 7.)
Gender. Among workers who were paid hourly rates in 2015, about 4 percent of women and about 3 percent of men had wages at or below the prevailing federal minimum. (See table 1.)

You can raise the minimum wage if done correctly. Check out the post by SFC Shirley Whitfield about Minnesota.

No their isn't, using the previous governor's statistics (great recession timeframe) to compare to today without any analysis of surrounding areas is foolish. There can be no causality derived from that study. Saying that 2015 numbers are better than 2010 numbers should be clear to everyone why and it has nothing to do with minimum wages. Restricting an individuals ability to work has never helped the macro economy, ever.
