Thanks TSgt Joe C. for letting us know that on January 7, 1945 British General Bernard Montgomery gave a press conference in which he all but claimed complete credit for saving the Allied cause in the Battle of the Bulge.

That makes you think that he would have agreed to the idea that Vice President Gore invented the Internet.

Monty was as much an egotist as Patton, and he accomplished much to bolster her ego, just not as much as Patton...

The idea that Field Marshal Montgomery's forces saved the American battle formations during the Battle of the Bulge is fully refuted by Gen. Patton's Third Army which performed a logistical work of wonder by traversing the entire army with vehicles from over 100 miles south to hit the German forces around the Belgian town of Bastogne. The battle was won through Patton's armored force plus a mighty air force for which the strategic B-17 bombers pounding Germany were assigned close air support duties until the front became stabilized in a few days of good flying weather. The German offensive started under a huge blizzard which grounded the various air forces.
