Agreed. Wish the Army used Glock service wide.

Yes, when I was in, we had the Beretta. Was good, but nothing next to Glock.

I still think the 1911A1 45 cal. pistol is still the best. If you hit someone they were going down. It may be a secondary weapon but if you get overrun (broken Arrow) and that's all you have left I would rather have that, than a 9MM pea shooter. Which wouldn't do any good against an armored vest. At least a 45, they could feel. Semper fi.

I like my Glocks. But handguns are secondary weapons for Marines and other military personnel. As long as the handgun is reliable I don't think the choice of handgun is as big of a deal as the service rifle and other weapons. And in my experiences the M9 is very reliable (with proper magazines). My 92SF (civilian version of the M9) will shoot hand loads that my Glocks choke on. The Glock 19 is much better for concealed carry, which according to the article is a major use of the Glock 19.

I know it is too much for the military to handle, but I think service members that are authorized to carry a sidearm should be allowed to choose their own as long as it fires the standard service ammunition and they can qualify with it.
