It is good to see National Guard troops mobilized to support stateside emergencies such as the Hurricane Matthew response SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. Helping their fellow countryman is probably a welcome relief to overseas deployments fro many of those mobilized.

No not in US, we do these all the time, the only time you will get Haz pay is if in approved area, if there are no riots or anything like that, then it is not considered Hazardous. We didn't even get Haz Pay going into NLO, after Katrina. The guys going into Haiti will, but Bahamas no. We had to fight to get it when we went into Pakistan after earthquake, because they only had 150 miles around Karachi listed as dangerous or hostile to US troops, because before that no was operating out in the open in other areas of Pakistan and we were in North western Frontier Kashmir area.
