Hey, a big "shout out" to all the riders here on RP and thank you to SrA Christopher Wright for bringing this folow-up article to my attention - great work and a great cause continues into Arkansas!
A lack of military service hasn't kept Adam Sandoval from serving veterans.
Sandoval, 37, established Scootin' Across America as a way to raise money for the American Legion's Legacy Scholarship Fund, which benefits children of fallen veterans who died on or after Sept. 11, 2001.
The Green Bay, Wis., native loaded up his dog, a 6-year-old Chihuahua named Scooter, and departed Fort Myers, Fla., in November 2014 with a plan to visit all 696 Harley-Davidson dealerships in the country. During the last 17 months, Sandoval and Scooter have logged thousands of miles across 19 states and raised more than $30,000 from dozens of local dealerships.
"If you didn't serve in the military, find the time to serve someone who did," Sandoval says of his mission.
On Saturday, Sandoval was at Pig Trail Harley-Davidson in Rogers, where more than 50 riders departed for a 205-mile round trip through the Ozarks. The ride, organized by Pig Trail Harley Owners Group, took bikers through the Boston Mountains and Ozark National Forest along Arkansas 23. Designated as the Pig Trail Scenic Byway, the highway is a popular destination for motorcycle enthusiasts because of its natural beauty.
Several other motorcycle clubs also were involved, including the Arkansas chapters of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, the Christian Bikers Alliance and Bikers Against Child Abuse.
