I believe a war with China is more likely to start by accident.

Agree but they are really testing the waters and are becoming more aggressive in regards to geopolitical matters. They certainly seem to be preparing for a fight with us regardless of how it starts.
I'll check out the book. There are a number of books of late with the more or less the same story - "war with China/Manchurian candidate"
