So it appears that the trans and fluid gender folks aren't so open to an all inclusive open category in swimming.
The swimming World Cup introduced new rules for trans swimmers last year banning biological males competing in the women’s category unless they had completed their transition by age 12 and their testosterone was below a certain threshold.
However, in protest to the rule trans swimmers are demanding to continue competing against women and not a single swimmer has entered the open category leading to organizers scrapping the category during the upcoming competition.
As no one entered the open category is seems its not about having an opportunity to compete and more about competing against women. To me this seems like a good direction - biology is different from identity you compete in open. To me this is no different than not allowing a perfectly healthy individual compete in adaptive sports. The transgression would be rather obvious and crystal clear - you'd be label an a-hole instantly for having an unfair advantage and competing in such events - regardless of sex/biology.
