Several similar acts in Egypt over the years with Muslims defending Coptic Christians. Especially during the rise of the Islamic brotherhood. Islam may be inherently violent in origin and sometimes in practice, however it shows that regardless of religion there are good people out there, just as there are bad. It could be said the same for Christianity, the period of Christian reform was just as bloody, this could be the beginnings of a push for reform within Islam, whether it gets anywhere, we will see.
