I know I was definitely lucky. Most of my buddies weren't so lucky. I was in Mosul, Iraq on FOB Marez when I lived in the CHU. I was fully expecting to stay in a tent and I did for about the first week when I got into country. Where has your deployment taken you? Safe travels Mike! Stay vigilant!

SFC Jason Evans Just Camp B, and it doesn't look like things will change. Life as signal is boring. Easy and essential, but boring nonetheless. Pretty much keeping comms up and waiting to fix it if it goes down. In my MOS, we provide NIPR and SIPR for the entire brigade.

The tents are pretty cool. Air conditioning and people wall off their 40 or so square feet of space with blankets and sheets for privacy.

I was Signal also. I'm a network engineer now for General Dynamics. I got out as a 25W. The thing is, don't squander your time. You have a lot of down time. Use that time to better yourself. Whether that's taking college course(s), studying for a technical cert, studying for the board, or working on your fitness. I know most of the down time is spent surfing the internet, playing video games, and watching movies. Don't follow the path of least resistance and comfort. If you put in the hard work in now, your life will be easier later.
