It may come as a surprise to some that America didn't invent slavery. Nor did the Emancipation Proclamation expunge slavery from our nation. Or the world. It has existed since prehistoric times and continues to exist throughout the world to this day. It may well be argued that slavery could not exist without the consent of the enslaved. Just as true, while the body is enslaved, the mind may yet be free. For me, the saddest form of slavery is self-enslavement. Spouses and children may be enslaved to a tyrannical parent. Many Americans are clamoring to enslave themselves to a collective. I almost wish we could set aside areas for them to live this life without demanding that the rest of us join them...
