Helped pay for my return to school (majority of the expense at the time). Enrolled in ROTC and thirty years after graduation, allowed me to retire with a pension, medical benefits, and a lot of great, and not so great memories. Met a lot of extremely interesting persons along the way (including my wife, while in school). Not sure this would have happened without the GI bill assistance.
