I really do love our education system (snark). Only in America can a system be created to poorly educate people and then sucker them into high interest loans so they can get themselves further educated.
It really is a Ponzi schema, on the Ground floor you have Primary school, where under common core you learn all about Islam, your taught that you can get 10 from adding 7 and 13, revisionist history is the norm, reading smut is encouraged but reading the classics is considered racist, Ebonics are standard curriculum. Your told you HAVE to attend College to get a "Good" job. So when you get to college you then end up taking remedial Math, English, History and science. You have not been taught how to think so the colleges take advantage of this and sucker you into taking BS classes to get your degree... You know Gaga on Gaga, or underwater basket weaving, or theater to be a PA or an OT (Charleston SC for that one) You keep having to pay for all of these classes but you make Minimum wage at the school Starbucks. So you take out a Student Loan and go into debt. Next year the school changes the requirement (they know your going to pay) and now you have to get another loan to take another BS Class.
Real World application I have seen. My best Friend was attending a Community College he was down to his last needed class for his Degree. The class was only offered once every 2 years, and had a waiting list for seats. The only way you could get on the waiting list was 1: have all your other classes / pre recs done. 2: Be a full time Student. So he was down to this one class but had to take 2 semesters worth of classes just to be kept on the waiting list. The School refused to transfer his credits to another school since his loans were not paid off and they would not accept him taking the course at another school..... (This was a Community College) So they made sure he was further in debt and wasting a year just for the chance to get in this class.
Our Education System needs an Overhaul and jacking up tuition on fake numbers while holding a surplus is called price gouging. At this point I don't think any Federal funding should be given to Private Education. There is to much emphasis on that slip of paper and not on the ability to do a job.
