PO1 Don Gulizia Don't go muddying the waters of racial hatred with actual facts. The purging that is occurring is as much fueled by hatred and racism as the cause celeb that they purport to be fighting.

Making plaques that simply say. Traitor, scumbag and slaver would be a great addition if you can't tear them down. Doing that and putting a statue of George Thomas alongside every statue of Robert E Lee would be at be a better start.

In Forests case, all that is required to revile the Man is Fort Pillow, Murdering POWs was not acceptable even then, not that his pre-war profession was any less vile. Why do we have statutes for a who is responsible the cold-blooded murder of US POWS?.

My point was that while most of us know that Forrest was a CSA general and 1st grand wizard of the KKK, there is a lot that we don't know. I still think statues of Forrest and Jeff Davis should come down, but democrats need to be honest and look at their their beloved Robert Byrd and his legacy. Do you support landmarks dedicated to Byrd? Why/Why not?

Bryd was on the Klan for a proximal to years then quit and started fighting the Klan doing so for decades. He did not kill a single US soldier and did not murder POWS while trying to destroy the US. Those are significant diffences.
And as far as I know he was never a slaver trader
