I regret to say that it looks like nothing will happen until after the 2020 elections. I contacted my sometimes reasonable Representative, and his reply was to the effect it was a bad idea, that undermined "strict regulation states" like New Jersey. The bill passed the House without his support.
I wouldn't bother with contacting my 2 gun-grabber senators -- they're hopeless.
