Taps at 1957 hours? Most noise ordinances typically tamp down on things after 2100 hours. There is a slippery slope issue here. What if everyone did some sort of repetitive electronic enhanced noise making at night? You have to separate the "patriotic" from the noise issue. First Amendment stuff usually doesn't fly if the noise standard is applied evenly. The objective is peace and quiet. This article is very deficient in stipulating what aspects of the local code is being violated, hence just another piece one sided non news. I'd expect there will be Taps success if it's determined that regulatory stuff is unevenly applied. Some jurisdictions have implemented various dB, time of day, etc. stuff driven by new Mosques that blare out several times a day. The notion is people have a right not to be forced to hear something. I'd expect the trend for tighter noise ordinances to continue. So in a way, Taps may be overcome by events.
