I found the transition very difficult, one day I’m at Camp Lejeune surrounded by Marines like I’ve done everyday for 4 years, then one day you EAS and your driving home. We didn’t do civilians back then we were always together and took care of ourselves and then your back on the block with jerkoffs and assholes. Took about 3 months to assimilate, going back to school helped a lot as I was older than most of our class, one guy was retired Army so that helped quite a bit.
