I know the best "sea stories" start out this way, but so be it....NO SHIT, this really happened: I was working at a large IC organization as the watch training officer and a new "training program" was going to be tested, so all of the training officers (from the different directorates) were asked to evaluate it. It had to do with strategy and tactics or something. After a couple of days of mind-numbing PowerPoint slides about the same old history and doctrine, it was time for the "practical exercise." The very enthusiastic instructor broke out...wait for it....Axis and Allies! I almost crapped myself. I felt like I was living in duffelblog! Needless to say, that "new training program" was ripped to shreds and never implemented.

Must be one of their top secret strategies for playing Battleship.
