Yeah...I get it. I sometimes wear a women's veteran's shirt and I want to put a "I served too!" on my hat...
When I wear vet stuff, I get asked if my husband served. Yes he did, but so did I. He NEVER gets asked if his wife served!

Certainly an issue! I was part of a BPOE (Elks) Flag Day celebration yesterday with the Boy Scouts (I am a long time Scout leader with 3 Eagle Scout sons, one more on the way, and a Silver Award Girl Scout daughter!) at the Long Island State Veterans Home in Stony Brook, NY, and several awards were given to a female veteran at the home who had served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam! Yesterday was also her birthday, as she turned 103. Wheelchair-bound, she seemed to understand what was going on and was happy, even reading all citations and letters she was given to honor her service. I have had the privilege of training and serving with many outstanding female colleagues in integrated units (medical and Military Police) during my 22 year career, and was present at the 18th MP BDE TOC, Lost Lake, Camp Victory, Baghdad, Iraq, in 2005 when Leigh Ann Hester encountered an ambush to a convoy she was guarding. She acted bravely and confidently, directing fire and killing many enemy insurgents, defeating the enemy, earning her the Silver Star. Women make fine soldiers and are just as capable and sometimes more so than their male counterparts. HOOAH!
