Yup, there were evil BAD PEOPLE ON BOTH SIDES. We will never know everything that happened on this. I'm also curious as to what happened in the russian controlled POW camps. We know what the Germans did in theirs only because they lost. It does prove one thing however; extremist dictators are much more brutal to those in their power. I'm glad America decided not to become evil.

Without lessening the barbarity of German conduct driven by Nazi dogma, it's worth remembering that the U.S.S.R. more than held its own in adding to the body count, starting with the Soviet massacre of tens of thousands Polish military officers, police, and other potentially subversive leaders, burying them in mass graves near Katyn. Red Army soldiers who "allowed" themselves to be taken prisoner were subject to summary trial and execution upon repatriation, as were civilians suspected of collaborating with the Germans.

Things like this must always be brought to light, why an expansive liberal education is needed in a democracy, and why a liberal free press was deemed as ABSOLUTELY IMPORTANT by our founders. I actually learned about the Katyn Forest in high school because back then, my teachers deemed the truth of history to be of the utmost importance. But yes, the depths of evil reached by both sides is nearly beyond belief. What the captured russian soldiers endured under Hitler and then to be deemed triators by Stalin?? This is one reason, why I as a soldier, so thoroughly believe in the Geneva Convention and why I was so totally disgusted by the recent pardon of war criminals.
