Nearly 800 accuse Boy Scouts of failing to protect them from sex abuse as new lawsuit is filed

(Article May 6 2020) Boy Scouts failed to call to account attacks against its boys and teens for years.
“It is apparent that the Boy Scout Defendants continue to hide the true nature of their cover-up and the extent of the pedophilia epidemic within their organizations because the vast majority of new victims coming forward involve claims of abuse at the hands of pedophiles who are not yet identified by the Boy Scouts of America,” the complaint reads.

History: In 1908, The Boy Scouts movement, originally for boys from 11 to 14 or 15 years of age, fwas founded by a cavalry officer in Great Britain, Lieutenant General Robert S.S. (later Lord) Baden-Powell, who had written a book called Scouting for Boys (1908). Lt. Baden-Powell was better known as the defender of the town of Mafeking in the South African (or Boer) War. His idea for the movement was to develop in boys good citizenship, chivalrous behaviour, and skill in various outdoor activities. Boy Scouts organizations started in the United States and other countries in 1910.
