So, as far as our own government's knighting ceremonialists are concerned, the two generals most responsible for our humiliating retreat from a horde of illiterate goatherds leave in their dust the two generals whose strategic acumen saved the world from Nazism and Japanese imperialism. But regarding the opinions of the nations on whose fields these clashes of civilizations are actually won or lost? Not so much.

Eisenhower's 58 additional medals and MacArthur's 36 additional medals were awarded to them by foreign allies (France, England, Philippines, South Korea, etc.) for their direct role in...what's that outdated phrase?...America winning the war.

Do you know what Austin nor Milley will never receive medals for? For neither honor nor shame, because neither of them possesses these qualities at present. Had they any honor now, they would have resigned (and alerted the public) when it became apparent that Biden was intentionally steering this locomotive straight off a cliff. Had they any shame, they would have resigned after Kabul fell, if only to make room for people with enough courage to stand up for what's right, despite the consequences to their career.

I love this opinion and I am going to share it widely.

As will I. Of course the usual RP suspects disagree.

There's another perspective as well...
Sure, you can look at a big ol ribbon rack, be dismissive and say "oh man, he must kiss a lot of butt!".
But when I see a big ol ribbon rack, I see divorces. I see tons of deployments. I see countless hours away from home. I see someone who very likely sacrificed a great deal of their personal life in service to their profession.
You can be jealous of the big ol ribbon racks all you want. But me? I'm jealous of the guys with the tiny ribbon racks who are the same rank who didn't have to do 1/4 of what I did to get there... You see ribbons, I see time away from family and loved ones.

Sigh... why is the B Team on the bench always so angry at the players on the field? If you want awards, get off the bench and earn them.

SFC Michael Hasbun the only one of mine I give two shits about is my humanitarian service medal. And I have one AAM I legitimately tried to refuse.

SFC Thomas Foreman - ABSOLUTELY!!!!!! Humanitarian service is probably our one mission that is an absolute good. Free from politics or moral ambiguity. I feel the same. My HSM and my MOVSM are my two awards that I'm most proud of.
