NEU ADA Audit 1 of 17

Northeastern University is a Major Engineering College in the Boston area who was recently subjected to an audit of ADA compliance after a disabled student was injured by non-compliant facilities. Afterward, the school acknowledged that they knew of the facilities problems that resulted in injury, and that had known for months, and likely years, but the school had undertaken zero effort to resolve the matter. As a result of the school ignoring numerous danger hazards to disabled students, and specifically disabled veterans who are also wheelchair users. The audit resulted in 17 videos spanning 21.8 hours of edited video. This video is one of the 17 video's, based on the Buildings on Forsythe and surrounding parking, the Milk Building, the Law School, and Ryder Hall. Other videos document other on campus buildings. This video actually document very serious civil rights violations by the college, and the MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority). While Northeastern University is a good engineering school, and likely the most valued of all colleges in the Boston area in terms of Computer Science and three specific Disciplines of Engineering (Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, a Mechanical Engineering). But, the campus is in a sad state in terms of complying with the American with Disabilities statutes, guidelines, and laws. For example, at the Disability Resource Center, and in the bathrooms just outside the DRC, the bathrooms are not ADA compliant, and over the entire campus, it is almost impossible to find a bathroom that is ADA complaint. The DRC also repeatedly states that it is the Universities (official) policy to disallow certain very vital disability accommodations, which are specifically included in the ADA... but the school discriminates against the disabled students with a formal policy of discrimination. Of course, by watching this entire video it becomes obvious that while they do have partial ADA compliance in some areas, much of the premises are NOT ADA COMPLIANT. What makes this "policy of non-compliance" all the more repugnant is that disabled veterans are having their civil rights violated because the college refused to spend money on repairs, and they are too cheap to purchase paint for the disabled parking spots to be marked... and they prioritize garbage over disabled veterans. If you pull up the actual design standards for ADA compliance on the one hand, and you examine this video (and related videos), you will be quite outraged by what the school is doing to disabled students.
