I agree movement within the organization is great, except if you are the one on the receiving end. If the regulation states that an E9 for example can stay for up to 30 years and he or she decides to do so that is totally up to the individual. But when someone has an outstanding record and because of the upper level politics they are forced to retire after 20, then we'll that is a different story and the Soldier that dedicated most of his adult life now leaves the service very angry and frustrated, so my point is "leave the service on your own terms, or you will feel a great deal of frustration for what you served and defended"

this looks like what they did in the 90's to thin the senior Ranks and is why with 20years and 4 months active and another 5 and 11 month reserve I bailed...
as an E-7 we were restricted to 22 unless on the E-8 List and
the 8's were restricted to 26 unless on the E-9 List and
E-9s 28 Unless CSM... then it was 30... Unless CSMA

Not far from where they were prior to the last change. I personally agree. It is a young mans fight and these times reflect a younger force, still allowing ample time to compete for senior grades. Regardless of what it is it will be supported. A great deal of thought and research goes into these policies. We just have to figure out how tomorrow navigate within them.
