I don't disagree with their conclusion, although it seems like the article itself is simply stating that a change in messaging is required. Here's my take on it: If the drive towards gender integration was truly about equality instead of an agenda, females would have to meet the same standards as their male counterparts. It will never happen, because it means the ratio of males to females will go even further in the opposite direction of what the ideologues wanted to start with. Instead we'll have female Soldiers who are required to be half as strong as their male counterparts to be "equal."

Not a great article but an interesting read. The department probably does not have enough data to determine much at this point.

This article starts with the premise that junior officers are against women in combat roles. What the actual report and study says is that we continue to identify soldiers by their gender, ethnicity, and other biosocialculutural demographics and instead they just want to all be considered soldiers, marines, etc... there is much more to this story. Suggest you read ADM McRaven's piece from task and purpose. There is an expectancy that women are being pushed to do this, but you just don't push someone to go through Ranger School. Motivation and determination drive the challenge. It's just 10 times harder for women because of the negative perceptions and stigma they face. I would argue that women are in fact stronger mentally and physically once they are supported as equals and not held to a higher standard. To reach individual potential one must be given opportunity. The culture of prejudice is the problem.
