Exactly what purpose do these cards serve? The only thing I read is that it is to prove you served without carrying around a DD214. Who do you need to prove you served to? Why would you need to do that?

The card is said to be "free" but we all know that is a lie. The tax payers are paying for it. This is a waste of time effort and money but will create another cadre of government employees to manage the issuance of the cards.

In order to get a discount for being a veteran you have to have proof you are a veteran. Places like Home Depot, OReilly's Auto and others, offer a veteran discount. I think veteran's should be able to take advantage of any benefit a company would offer them. Someone is already making the cards for veteran's who are using VA health benefits.
