Just spent 10 days in Zihuatanejo, MEX where my average meal was $10-$15. It was that much because my wife and I were eating lobster and well, my alcohol expense managed to climb for some reason. I just came back from Lucky's where I spent $135.47 on two bags of groceries. So ya ... I get it.

Nothing new here. A big percentage of personnel that had their last duty station overseas ended up staying forever. Rota Spain, Atsugi Japan, Sigonella Sicily, Germany, England.... Hawaii (just kidding)

I suppose the charm of living the retired life overseas is a favorable rate of exchange for dollars to whatever currency.
