I met Nikki Haley when she was running for governor of SC. She came to a Tea Party meeting in Myrtle Beach, SC. I was not a card carrying Tea Party member but did go to a few meetings and helped them hold signs along the road, etc. and get the word out for the candidates they supported...
At that time the Tea Party was pretty disorganized and you had a bunch of competing groups all doing their own thing trying to establish themselves as THE group representing our area. The Myrtle Beach group whose meeting I attended had about 35 people that were regulars, and they met once a month at a local restaurant/bar. Nikki was gracious, charming and very down to Earth. It didn't matter that the crowd was small. She started with a brief intro about herself and what she hoped to accomplish as governor. She then turned it over to questions. What she said resonated and I was happy to see that she was not afraid to stand up for what she believed in, which was right in line with my beliefs. Was very happy when she won.
Nikki was a good governor for the State of SC. Her husband is military and was deployed even while she was Governor. She did a lot of good for the State but she did upset a few folks... I'm not sure if she would win re-election were she to run again. As much as I like her, I must admit that she did disappoint me twice. Once when she caved to political correctness and got rid of a part of SC's history, and then early on in this past General Election when she jumped on the Establishment bandwagon and attacked Trump. [Trump apparently has gotten over it and it's water under the bridge...] That aside, Nikki's a smart and capable leader and will make a fine Ambassador.

I questioned her nomination at first but this is the UN we're talking about. As long as she sticks to traditional US positions within the UN, she'll be fine. Plus President Trump doesn't have to worry about her running against in the primaries.
