Nominations open for Army's 'Greatest Innovation' award

Army Materiel Command wants you to help improve the Army.
Soldiers and Army civilians alike are encouraged to submit nominations for the service’s Greatest Innovation Awards Program, which recognizes new technologies and inventions.
The Maj. Gen. Harold J. Greene Award for Innovation focuses on products created by either soldiers or Army civilians that have improved the war fighter’s capabilities, according to the command press release. Past winners include a life-saving tourniquet and a combat shirt that offers ballistic protection.
The program’s award is named in honor of Greene, who was killed in combat in Afghanistan in 2014. He was involved with Army research, development and acquisition fields during his career.
The award goes to winners in three categories: military-individual, civilian-individual, and group. Nominations must have been “first fielded, adopted, and/or implemented” between Oct. 1, 2015, and Sep. 30, 2016, according to the awards program website.
The nomination window opens Saturday and closes Jan. 15. Winners will be announced in March at the Association of the United States Army's Global Force Symposium in Alabama.

Thanks for sharing the news that US Army Materiel Command is seeking help to improve the Army support systems. Hopefully many soldiers and civilians will develop effective and efficient innovation which will benefit the Army and the taxpayer SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. Hopefully the Maj. Gen. Harold J. Greene Award will be presented to the best individual or group innovation.
