How can anyone GIVE Trump credit. What we are seeing today is entirely the work of North and South Korea's leaders.
As someone who has watched Korea for more than 30 years, I would guess it is a combination of South Korea's President Moon's pacifism and the growing influence of Kim Jung Un's sister Kim Yo Jong, who appears to not only have her older brother's ear, but also some diplomatic skill.
All that Trump deserves credit for is not shitting all over the process like he currently is with regard to China and tariffs.

SFC (Join to see) - Yeah sure. Like he ever allowed facts stop him bragging or taking credit for anything before. Oh look, hmmm, yeah this could also explain why S. Korea is keeping the US away from the table when it comes to peace talks. S. Korea doesn't need US or Japan when it comes to ending the war on the peninsula.
One more thing, just cause someone disagrees with you and doesn't like Trump doesn't make them a Democrat. I'm an Independent cause I enjoy supporting and disagreeing with policies from both sides. Loyal to my country, not the party and the idiots that lead both parties. Now move along until you're ready to reveal who you are to a fellow Vet on RP. I'm done talking to an (Anonymous) profile.

Trump says he'll bail on North Korea talks if they're not 'fruitful'
'If the meeting when I’m there is not fruitful, I will respectfully leave the meeting,' he said.

MAJ James Woods - Oh, so you can make assumptions based on me being anonymous, but I can't make assumptions on you based on your rabid anti-Trump tirades you go on. Good to know the caliber of your character. Also you are not my fellow vet. If I have not had a beer with you then you are not my brother.
South Korea can say whatever it wants, but the U.S. does not have a peace treaty with North Korea and we provide a significant bulk of South Korea's security so it is laughable to say South Korea can do it on its own.

SFC (Join to see) - The only assumptions I've made about you are 1) you're an SFC, 2) you have no name, 3) you're Army, 4) you like to hide other personal background info, 5) you'll make pro-Trump statements no matter the details, and 6) you'll call anyone that disagrees with you an anti-Trump, rabid Democrat.
You have it backwards. The US can say whatever it wants. It's the South Korean and North Korean governments that dictate peace treaty conditions on that peninsula. We, the US, are the guests of S. Korea that aligned ourselves with them in the fight against N. Korea and later China during the war. They do not need our permission for any terms of the peace treaty. Do me a favor, stick to the "other/not listed" expertise of your anonymous profile. You're clearly a joke when it comes to military history, political and military strategic affairs, and foreign policy. Feel free to have the last word. I'll be ignoring it anyway. Buh bye.

MAJ James Woods - Actually South Korea does need our permission because they have treaties signed with the United States concerning security issues with North Korea. The fact that you seem to deny that tells me you were not the greatest of officers, and you are particularly uneducated about how things work on the peninsula.

You know the last POTUS would have received a Nobel Peace Prize for the mere hint of this possiblity. The current POTUS will not get any credit for this...well, except from maybe Fox News.

LCDR (Join to see) - People can't take a joke...geez. I wasn't being serious. I was making a lighthearted comment. I guess I should have put a winky face after it or something. Geez lighten up.
Also he had nothing to do with these talks and no I don't listen to one narrative over another. I know how to research. But thanks for the input. Have a wonderful day.

SFC Kelly Fuerhoff So this has nothing to do with Trump - https://www.militarytimes.com/flashpoints/2018/04/18/us-officials-say-pompeo-has-met-with-north-koreas-kim/
US officials say Pompeo has met with North Korea’s Kim
CIA Director Mike Pompeo recently traveled to North Korea to meet with leader Kim Jong Un, two U.S. officials said Tuesday.

LCDR (Join to see) - I'm surprised that some on RP haven't said that potential peace on the Korean penisula is all thanks to Obama. You know it's coming.

This should have been the goal for decades. All this talk about de-nuclearization and economic sanctions; what about bringing official peace to the combative nature on the peninsula. Let the path to co-existence begin with a new direction in foreign policy between the N. and S. Korean governments.
