... and their desires mean exactly what? Whether or not they drop that demand, does anyone really believe we would have left?

You'll have to forgive me but I don't follow the news all that closely. But isn't all this happening AFTER Kim met with China? If so it would seem to me, and I'm just spit-balling here, that Kim went to China for support and got told something along the lines of, "You're on your own brother" or "If you don't stop screwing up what we've got going on, we'll be the ones bombing you". So now all of a sudden, he's ready to be diplomatic. Just a thought.
