"Barraza faces one charge for willfully disobeying an order, seven charges for dereliction of duty, two charges for making false official statements and five charges for obstruction of justice."
Yikes...
Though without context its hard to really judge if this was a bad idea that spun out of control (not justifying it at all) or something really nasty that he made worse ..
I mean was he smoking a cigarette in the office (disobeying an order), letting other smoke (dereliction of duty), lied about in when questioned (false statements), and told the 5 fellow Airmen that he let smoke in the office not to say anything (obstruction of justice)..all of which is wrong....
But perhaps not as heinous as say, setting up an illegal email server (disobeying an order), letting others use his illegal email server (dereliction of duty), lied about in when questioned (false statements), and told the 5 fellow Airmen that he let told to email him on the illegal email server not to say anything (obstruction of justice)..all of which is wrong.... but an order of magnitude wronger...... LOL

Until it is revealed what happened, I will withhold my comments. I had an incident shortly before retiring, that caused me to bring up article 138 against my CO on a submarine. They decided I was right and dropped the attempt to "dicipline" me. The CO never advanced in rank after leaving that command. Not to say this guy didn't deserve what he got, just that all information should be considered before considering him guilty.

Maybe he should be the example for the rest of the SCNCO crowd that thinks he can retire and get away with stuff. Reduce to E1 and jail time.
