A veteran Bronx detective was killed Monday along with five other U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan when a suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden motorcycle into their patrol.

Air National Guard Staff Sgt. Joseph Lemm, a 15-year NYPD veteran from Westchester County, died in the fiery blast that ripped into his unit, officials said.

The joint NATO-Afghan patrol was moving through a village near Bagram Airfield, the largest U.S. facility in Afghanistan, when the suicide attacker targeted the troop.

Two other American soldiers and an Afghan soldier were wounded, military officials said.

It was the deadliest attack on international forces since August. The Taliban claimed responsibility, authorities said.

“Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the families and friends of those affected in this tragic incident, especially during this holiday season,” Army Brig. Gen. William Shoffner said.

Lemm, 45, was on this third tour overseas. He leaves behind a wife, Christine, a teenage daughter, Brook, and a young son, Ryan.

Distraught relatives met reporters outside the fallen detective’s red-brick single-family home on a quiet West Harrison street Monday night.
