With all the cameras in place these days (squad cars, body cams, other drivers' dash cams, buildings, etc.), plus the use of helicopters and drones, it doesn't seem necessary to pursue someone on a high-speed chase these days. Restrictions make sense to me to avoid the potential for collateral damage and putting lives at risk. You can run but you can't hide.

Tags are useless in court, can be stolen, altered or not on file. No-pursuit policies encourage reckless drivers. Helicopters aren’t always available or able to track. Bad, weak, woke, liberal policy.

I had a mayor once tell me he might recommend city council implement a no pursuit policy when I was chief and I really liked him. But I told him with all due respect sir, I’ll resign immediately. Thats dereliction of duty, like military ROE that get troops killed. He heard me out as a former trooper and he realized how stupid that idea is. Like a no arrest policy for misdemeanors, no stops or warrants served after dark, no foot pursuits; it’s all Marxist, anarchist, de-policing, to hamstring cops and embolden thugs. Any practice that is supported by the ACLU is garbage. I hope Trump cuts all federal funds, support and NCIC access to ANY agency with these pro-thug policies.
