Good for the Pentagon. Unlike the republicans on Gowdy's committee, the people at the pentagon have real jobs to do and don't have weeks and months of spare manhours to chase down the repetitive and useless stuff that this sham committee is asking for. There is a real cost in dollars and work lost in these fishing expeditions. It's been well established by multiple, REPUBLICAN run committees already what the military capabilities and responses were. But there were no facts found to back up all the rumors and BS put out on infowars and other crackpot websites, that seem to be the lead sources for Gowdy, so they keep wasting taxpayer money with more requests. They will keep this up until the election is over.

For over two years, this "fact-finding committee" hasn't done anything but keep this tragedy alive for no other reason than political spite. I find it equally interesting that this much energy wasn't put into finding the people that attacked embassies and killed American diplomats and citizens prior to this one. I guess some American lives are worth more than others

I understand that at least two of the families who lost their loved ones due to the Benghazi attack have gone on record as asking the endless investigations to be stopped. In respect to the Pentagon's letter to the Committee, it seems to be related to more and more speculative requests for information, trending into conspiracy theories:
"...The committee asked the Pentagon to find someone calling into a talk show claiming to be a drone camera operator who said that he saw a video feed from the night of the attack. After spending “significant resources,” the Pentagon could find no one matching the description. The committee then asked to interview all drone pilots in the region on the night of the Benghazi attack, which the Defense Department called “unnecessary,” because it had already handed over their video.
"Even when it is able to schedule interviews, Pentagon officials "have been asked repeatedly to speculate or engage in discussing on the record hypotheticals," Hedger claimed, "regardless of the interviewee’s actual knowledge or expertise to provide appropriate analysis or insight."
"This type of questioning poses the risk that your final report may be based on speculation rather than a fact-based analysis of what a military officer did do or could have done given his or her knowledge at the time of the attacks."
