It's kind of like when they were doing the screening for female Soldiers in G.I. Jane. Trying to figure out who's going to be the "face" of the female push into combat arms. All a bunch of BS if you ask me. How about we try this approach. Let's put some standards in place and see who meets/exceeds those set standards. If a female who is pretty makes it, then so be it. If a female who isn't so pretty makes it, so be it. Let's not complicate the process, you will never fail if you hold ALL Soldiers to a set of KNOWN standards.

Pretty people make the sales pitch a lot easier. It's the truth. But you are right, set the standard and the cream rises to the top. Take your photo op from the achievers. A lesson learned from the Marines.

You should engage your brain before you flip the thumb safety off your mouth! You need to know where your rounds are going to impact.

Once this story initially broke, I think it was inevitable that these COLs would have to leave their roles for an undefined period of time. This makes the consequence management piece of the situation easier -- though it will still be a difficult one, the individuals under scrutiny are gone. At their pay grade, this is sure to be a career killer for them.
