I won't make fun of the guy for carrying a .25 ACP. By far, the most important characteristic of a defense gun is availability -- you can't use the gun you don't have with you. Second is reliability -- it has to work when you pull the trigger, there are no other acceptable alternatives. Everything else is a distant third or lower, things like accuracy, stopping power, ergonomics. Those things don't matter if the first two aren't what they need to be.
