Fantastic share. Makes me think back to the 70s when we had the "token" black officer in out B-52 squadron.

I am really glad we are at least past that. My cousin is a retired enlisted airmen. Several friends are also retired enlisted and officers. My wife has two cousins currently in the Air Force, a Major and a full bird Colonel. Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen

I don’t see it. I am trying, but I don’t see it. The senior officer and senior enlisted are both African American. We have had an African American President. You talk about a token black officer in the 70s, 50 years ago. We have come a long way since then. Does racism exist? Sure there are racists, bigots, homophobes, islamophobes and you name it of all stripes and colors, but that is not what the military or America is about. I think the fact that these men achieved those positions speak to that. There is always room for improvement, but I do not believe the military or America itself is racist even though there are some racists amongst the people. Again my $.02

CMSgt Virgil Horsley Chief, was in no way disparaging these men or saying they were a “token” anything.
Was just responding to a previous comment. Obviously all these men were and are highly qualified.
