He seems like the real thing based on my research. The Republicans have a checkered past with SCOTUS appointments, Souter, O'Conner and Roberts. He will be confirmed, albeit with lots of noise. If he doesn't make it, get ready for an ideologue like the Dems have confirmed in the past.
