I've dabbled in Linux audio production but I've found it to be more time consuming for configuration and such where as using Windows OS and software I'm used to just is that much easier. Any suggestions? I like the idea of it, it's just not user friendly.

SPC David Selonke -
What distros?
What software on listed distro(s)?
Compared to what software you're already used to?

SGT (Join to see) - Right off the top of my head, I know I tried Ubuntu Studio, KXstudio (which I liked the best), and avLinux. Like I said, I think I just wasn't patient enough to learn. On Windows I use a mix of FL, Ableton, and Cubase, depending on what I'm doing. I also have an Maudio 1010lt internal audio card, guitar rig session Io, and midi keyboards. I'm sure some of that might not even be compatible either. Just a major change from what I'm used to. It's been a while since I've tried something Linux based. Any suggestions as far as a simple set up? Maybe I should ignore the outboard equipment and try to add in piece by piece?

SPC David Selonke - This is a list we can work with.
FL and LMMS work very similarly except FL has more bundled VST's.
QTractor is really easy to learn and most similar to Ab Live - import a track, cut as needed, go to the Mix panel and add FX as needed.

I can't suggest a setup without knowing what your goals are, but I can suggest you focus on the software if you're looking to make switches. LMMS is available on Windows, btw.

My setup is as simple as it gets - Audio Interface, mic, studio monitors, MIDI controller.
