For one, it just sounds cool when a ships’ captain calls for the crew to “Prepare to ram!” Think of how many movie scenes have benefited in the past a from such moments. By bringing that order back, every future Navy film will be that much more incredible.

LOL, yes! Although I'd suggest we un-mothball an Iowa-class BB, paint it white and give it Coast Guard livery, and then send it to the Paracels for humanitarian ramming.

SCPO (Join to see) - well, "humanitarian ramming" was meant to be humorous, not a policy proposal. I guess I failed on the attempt to be funny. If I were being serious, I wouldn't disguise it as a CGC, I would re-commission it formally as one. I would have a joint CG and Navy crew so that they would mimic the China Coast Guard in its use of very large CG ships to intimidate smaller vessels in the SCS. The BB would be hard to intimidate. In addition, the ship would gain Title 38 (law enforcement) authorities and more legitimacy to conduct Humanitarian and search-and-rescue operations.
