This is a "bate and switch" article. It starts with "swatting hoaxes" and then zeros in on what the police did and did not do. I was seriously hoping they would focus on the creeps that caused these tragedies and deaths. The young punks who think it funny and cool to make a phony 911 call on someone and put everyone's lives in danger. If they make the call and an innocent person dies, then they should be prosecuted as murders. AND yes, now the police have to adjust their tactics and procedures.

Lots of people have lots of ideas. Reality is that humans will always try to be self preserving. When this type of call is generated. It is sent to a beat cop on patrol to go check the initial information. At no time does a swat unit fully deploy without reasonable validity of need. Usually takes a supervisor to call out a special unit. What we need to take from this is that there is only one person at fault for this tragic event. The punk who initiated the call. Sentence him properly to show what he did is unacceptable. I have been on these calls. No cop goes to these events with hopes of getting to kill somebody. Most want to just return home at the end of the work day like you.
