Well if the terrain could be grateful I expect the terrain of Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan would be grateful for a reduction in ordnance dropped on it SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL.
Since we have been using a high percentage of smart munitions and some dumb munitions I am not sure what this means in terms of operational information. The report does not mention any difference in the tonnage dropped only the raw numbers. It also seems to exclude the UAV ordnance numbers which are controlled by more than one organization of our federal government.
I know there was an attempt to have a truce in Syria and I know that the Russians have pulled back their ground forces.
Since this is only an indication of US ordnance being dropped and not the total quantity of ordnance being dropped I am curious what the gross change would be.
It is also interesting that the Taliban are stating their annual spring offensive so I would expect addition ordnance would be expended this month.
We know that Syria and Iraq and to a lesser degree Afghanistan are target-rich environments for an air campaign with ground targeting capabilities.

There is no mention of a correlation between this decrease and a significant drop in targets. The assumption becomes the decrease is in response to political pressure, possibly a further politically correct over-tightening of the ROE.
