@CPT William Fleenor I understand the pullout of Oregon State Police from the Portland AO. Each arrest consumes time, money and Heaven knows what danger.
State Police should police in areas that will charge, judge and punish those found guilty of breaking a law. Arresting people to enter a revolving jail door where they are not even charged with an offense is an absolute waste of resources!

I understand your point also. Here we are 6 mo later and we know that the "protests" were not that at all. Back in the "Good ole Days" when I was a police officer, we arrested individuals guilty of violating the law. Whatever happened afterwards in court or at the hands of the Commonwealth's Attorney was out of our hands. We fulfilled our obligation as police officers ... period. In a perfect world we would always have a competent judge, jury, prosecutor, and an attorney for the defendant. It was not however perfect even in my day. Very often the guilty walked because the prosecutor was incompetent. In the end, it really doesn't matter whether the prosecutor is corrupt or incompetent. The police should continue to enforce the law. For the police to say "these cases aren't being handled the way I believe they should be so I am just not going to enforce the law" is patently ridiculous. Lock the offenders up, inconvenience them, create as many examples of the prosecutor committing malfeasance in office as possible. The pendulum always swings back at some point and with a little luck one of those officers may have the opportunity to execute an arrest warrant on that "prosecutor scumbag".
