They do play a large role in it. Some help the person find different ways of commiting suicide.

Negative. It is what is going on inside the Veterans head, nightmares, leaving one hell and coming to another hell, compliments of the white house adminstration.

This is in regard to everyone not just veterans. The national suicide rate has been going up each year. From 1999 to 2010, the suicide rate among American ages 35 to 64 increased nearly 30 percent. The largest increases were among men in their fifties, with rates rising nearly 50 percent, to 30 per 100,000. For women aged 60 to 64, rates rose 60 percent, to 7.0 per 100,000
