While I am 100% for concealed carry, those who knowingly (She had to have know a NC permit was for that state only, unless recognized by another state. It is YOUR responsibility to KNOW the law and what state your permit is valid in) carry in a state that DOESN'T permit guns to be carried are guilty. PERIOD! I'm glad she was pardoned and hope that she is painfully aware of why you need to know the limits of a CCW permit.
It does highlight the shortcomings of our patchwork system though. I don't think Congress will be able to get around the fact that a few states DON'T want you to own one, much less carry it. States rights are their decision, and while I disagree, Big Government isn't always the answer.

TSgt David L. Agreed, ignorance of the law is never an excuse.

I have to disagree. She knows her rights as we all do. "Shall not be infringed" within the 2nd is a FEDERAL right, guaranteed to we the people, which does not fall to the states under the 10th amendment. She did the cop a solid by informing him/her, he/she could have been just as forthcoming and benevolent while sending her on her way.

Her carrying that weapon for defense does not limit that defense from criminals alone. The original intent of that right is to ensure a benevolent government. The "shield" alone does not mean a person can't be a jack-booted thug.
