Brilliant! 10 years at Ft Polk! 8 years at Fort Irwin! 12 at Drum? If you get to stay in Hawaii, that means someone else stays at Polk, Irwin, Hood, Bragg etc. who wins the nice place lottery and who loses? We all know BRAC won't ever close a place due to congressional districting.

So if you are Medical, 10 years at JBSA could work. Are they going to put tank/IFV multi, purpose range complexes and a maneuver area there for combat arms units?

They have talked this before. Key and developmental assignments have always been the issue. They have also talked about letting leaders off the career ladder and let people do what they are best at.....then they go back to the traditional ladder and KD assignments.

The current PCS regime spreads the suck, so,when your career goes Irwin then Korea, there is hope of a Carson in your not too distant future. The alternative could be just to get rid of every crappy duty assignment, never mind, won't work.

I would love to see an Army that let some of the Officer Corps in particular, branch out and do something different without it being terminal. Give NCOs and Warrants an opportunity to take a detour And do something developmental or to attend a commensurate officer PME course (like the Navy started doing with the NWC and CMCs in 2007 as a pilot).
