You do get the irony in your statement right? You define them as "traitors" simply and ONLY because they fought against the United States. Yet that is the very same thing that every single colonist did in fighting against England.

SSG Brian G. - Correct, they were traitors to the Crown. And had the Crown won, many of those colonist would have been hung.

I can't vote you down, but that is okay. You say they were traitors to the federals, and that I can agree with. But they were loyal to their countrymen, loyal to their particular states-they merely wanted to go a different way. It hadn't been all that long, after all since the states voluntarily came together as one, they wanted to voluntarily leave that association. But, that doesn't matter now. They stood for what they believed in, regardless of whom disagreed-they sacrificed their lives and sacred honor and did not turn on their own people when it would have been easy to do so. In short they exemplified everything that we hold in high regard as members of a military-leave no one behind.

However, I think the modern hypocrisy and wasted time and money in all this is deafening.

So, that only leaves one question. When are they going to change the name of D.C.? After all, Washington owned slaves, didn't he? Oh, but he was on the winning side.

Would to God, we had such men leading our country today, who would stand for this Country. "My Country, may she ever be right. But, right or wrong my country". Or, as we would say where I come from, you can't be ashamed of your own dogs. Or your own Countries history.
